Federal Regulations require that each moving company have a neutral arbitration program, or a legal process to handle arguments or disputes.
What is Arbitration?
Arbitration is a program designed to give neither the moving company nor the consumer shipper any special advantage when disputing a claim.
Are moving companies obligated to have an arbitration program?
The federal law governing interstate shipments of household goods under 49 CFR § 375.211 states that an intertaste moving company must have an arbitration program to provide to their customers as an alternative to litigation.
How long does it takes?
From filing of the claim to the award, the process typically takes between 100 and 160 days depending on complexity. The process may take longer if either party requests an extension.
